Care For Your Tan

Prolong the quality of your Capri Tan

We want you to enjoy your tan for as long as possible.  Your skin care immediately prior and following your tan is important for proper absorption of our solution. Be sure to follow these simple preparatory steps for prep, and don’t forget the tips for after-care.

Pre-Tan Preparation

Exfoliate and shave prior to your tan paying attention to extremely dry areas.

Make sure your skin is free from deodorant, perfume, moisturizers, makeup, or any other product at your appointment. These will act as a barrier between your tan and your skin and prevent the tan from being even. Clean, dry skin is best!

For best results schedule mani/pedis, waxing procedures, facials, and hair appointments at least 24 hours prior to your tan.

Be sure to wear dark, loose clothing, and open-toed sandals after your tanning session.

Post-Tan Care

Avoid getting wet (rain, sweat, swimming, splashes of water) for 5-7 hours following your appointment with our Signature solution. For our Express tans allow 2-4 hours before showering.  Rapid Tans can shower in as little as 30 minutes after you appointment, however please consult with your tanning expert for best results given your skin tone and custom solution mix.

Rapid Tan Customers:  When you shower after you wait your recommended wait time (by your tanning expert), do not use soap.  Simply rinse off until the water runs clear. Do not be alarmed as it may look like you showered your tan off (NOT THE CASE).  The shower rinse just took off the bronzer. You may go about your day as normal and your tan will continue to develop over the next several hours.

After your first shower: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Keep your skin hydrated. We recommend a moisturizer that doesn’t contain mineral oil or petroleum (these can cause fading and even streaking in some cases)

Avoid saunas, steam rooms, pools, and hot tubs. These will make your tan fade more quickly.

Try not to exfoliate until your tan starts to fade.

Make sure your showers are fairly short and not too hot. When shaving use a sharp razor. Do not scrub your skin but use your hands to gently wash your skin. when you are done gently pat your skin dry.

Don’t forget your SPF on a daily basis to avoid sunburn or skin damage. Apply an oil free sunscreen. Our solution does not contain an SPF and will not protect your skin from harsh UV rays.

If you are sleeping with your tan on over night, we recommend putting loose socks on your hands so you don’t end up touching your skin while you’re sleeping resulting in getting your palms tanned.
